Let me give you an analogy. When we entered 2008, the Miami Dolphins were the worst football team in the league winning only one game out of sixteen. (That is really bad.)

But that was before they hired Bill Parcells — before first year head coach, Tony Sparano was brought in to turn the team around.

On the final Sunday of the 2008 regular season the Miami Dolphins beat the heavily favored New York Jets 24-17 to become the AFC East Champs (and win their first division title since 2000.) They entered the playoffs with an 11-5 season. (That is fantastic.)

From worst to first. In one season.

The difference?

The players are not any better than their competitors. (In fact, Chad Pennington, the Dolphins quarterback was let go by the NY Jets –the team they beat- in August of 2007. The running back, Ricky Williams has a record of marijuana use and has been repeatedly suspended by the NFL. And on it goes.)

But the team worked harder and smarter than they ever did before. And they were winning.

Why?

The experts, the players and the fans all agreed — it’s the coaching staff that brought the team together and extracted the best in every player.
